Question 1

Is there a security deposit?

Accepted Answer

Yes, $200, in cash or as credit card details for security. It's separate from the deductible and doesn't limit your liability. It's waived if you choose Full Risk coverage.

Question 2

How do I pay, and what cards do you accept?

Accepted Answer

Payment is made in person at pickup. We don't accept payment online. We take cash (USD), Visa, MasterCard, and debit. American Express and Discover aren't accepted, and card payments carry a 4% surcharge.

Question 3

Do I need to buy your insurance if my credit card covers rentals?

Accepted Answer

Your card's own coverage is between you and your card issuer. It doesn't apply at our counter. Every rental includes Third Party coverage; Full Risk is required on rentals of 4 days or less and on returns after 6:00 PM, and otherwise you can upgrade to CDW+ or Full Risk.

Question 4

How does airport pickup work?

Accepted Answer

We don't have a counter at the airport. Send us your flight details. When you land, exit the arrivals hall, cross the street and go to the yellow Shuttle Bus sign: a TRAC representative meets you there and takes you by shuttle to our Dakota office. If we haven't heard from you within 2 hours of landing, the reservation will be canceled.

Question 5

Can I pick up or return a car outside of 9 AM to 6 PM?

Accepted Answer

Yes, for a fee. Pickups from 7:00 to 8:59 AM or 6:01 to 8:59 PM cost $50, and there are no pickups from 9:00 PM to 6:59 AM. Returns from 6:01 to 8:59 PM cost $50 plus Full Risk at $25/day for the entire rental. Returns from 9:00 PM to 8:59 AM are airport self-drop only: a $50 fee plus Full Risk at $25/day for the entire rental.

Question 6

Can you transport my luggage separately?

Accepted Answer

Yes, subject to availability, so request it in advance and wait for our confirmation. It's $30 one-time each way (airport to you, or you to the airport), or $60 for both directions.

Question 7

Do you rent car seats?

Accepted Answer

Yes, at $5/day each: infant seats (newborn to about 1 year), toddler seats (about 1 to 4 years) and booster seats (about 4 to 10 years). Reserve in advance, and plan to install it yourself.

Question 8

What's the minimum age to rent?

Accepted Answer

23. Every driver must be at least 23, and there's no young-driver surcharge. We rent up to age 80; above that we ask for a doctor's letter confirming fitness to drive.

Question 9

What driver's license do I need?

Accepted Answer

A valid license you've held for at least 6 months. Foreign licenses are fine and an International Driving Permit isn't required, though it's handy to carry.

Question 10

Is mileage unlimited?

Accepted Answer

Yes, unlimited on every category, included in the rate.

Question 11

What's your fuel policy?

Accepted Answer

Full to full, regular gasoline only. Return it short and a flat refuelling charge applies by category ($70 to $150), whatever the gap. A prepaid fuel option is available at the same per-category price.

Question 12

Can I cancel before my rental starts?

Accepted Answer

Yes, free of charge. There's no cancellation window and no fee, as long as you cancel before the rental agreement is signed and the car is collected.

Question 13

Can I add a second driver?

Accepted Answer

Yes, $5 per day. Up to 2 drivers per rental, each 23 or older, both listed on the agreement with valid licenses. An unlisted driver voids the insurance entirely.
